When starting a book/step study, the following boundaries helped us stay focused.
~ For organization and group business, we will follow the 12 Traditions and 12 Concepts of service.
~ The group is expected to take _ to _ weeks to complete. It may take longer. We need to be flexible.
Yellow Workbook suggests 12-16 weeks., we have taken 30-36 weeks, some groups take 52 weeks.
~ We will do all reading and writing at home and use the group time to discuss and comment.
~ The group needs to be closed after a few weeks to new members so we have a stable, safe environment. Doing this work creates intimacy and adding a new person changes the dynamic.
~ We start on time and end on time.
~ We will not cancel if one can’t make it. We can agree to cancel for weather, holidays or if more than one can’t make it.
~ This is a serious commitment.
~ Anyone at anytime may express concerns or questions, and, conversations with each other and professionals is encouraged outside the book study.
~ Crosstalk, questions and open discussion is our format but we all will be aware that we all need time to share and stay focused.
~ We will pass the basket in accordance with the 7th Tradition
Create your own boundaries personal to your group and the study you are doing. Have fun with it.
